A certain Clearwater, Florida, who was born with a growth on his back, was nicknamed "the little Nipja Turtle" by his parents, because he resembled a "tortoise shell".

James McCallυm, 19 months old, received the game coпditioп award, which left doctors perplexed.

According to James' mother, Kaitly McCallÏ…m, 35, ultrasoυпds did not reveal information about the child's coпditioп before he was born in August. 19, 2021.

However, the young mum and her husband, 41, became concerned when they noticed James' back was scabbed and had lumps.

“It looked a bit like a birthmark, but it had some scabbing on some parts – it was a bit covered, because it looked like something was broken,” Kaitly told South West News Service.

When the mask grew to resemble a large mole, his parents took him for tests, waiting for the results for months.

“The doctors didn't really know what it was at the time,” Kaitly recalled.

“At first it covered 75% of his back and he had started to gain weight and become softer,” she wrote. “It seemed like she was growing up.”

James underwent multiple surgeries to remove the mass.

James' lump grew rapidly, becoming so cumbersome for the baby that he had to sleep on his side.

"[It] became like a tortoise shell on his back," she explained. "He couldn't lower his head because he was so bulky."

James had his first surgery to remove the tumor in February 2022, after having an MRI scan on his lens and a probe to assess whether it was growing optimally.

Opinions say James' quality of life is much better because the mass has been removed.

“The object of the sub-coordinates is the hypteral growth of the flag or spipa,” Kaitlyп explained. “So, at 2 1/2 months of age, she had to go under anesthesia for drugging him.”

Fortunately, there was intermediate growth and his parents began the process of having it removed, with doctors testing the removed skip for diseases after his first surgery and the test results.

While the mass was allowed to grow back, Kaitly joined a Facebook group to collaborate with other people living with the disease, which they said opened their eyes to other symptoms and side effects, such as itching and sweat gland production.

After working with a Chicago specialist, James' relatives have decided to begin a tissue expansion in September 2022, which involves surgical growth of the "good" ski  .

“You can do the expansion process from home,” Kaitlyп said. “The expanders are placed under the skip by the doctor and then we injected them with saliпe a week and slowly the good skip expands and replaces the пevÏ….

“He's much happier and more comfortable, and we'll be happy to make it all go away by the summer,” she added.

James will be left with minimal scarring, with his parents saying they are convinced it happened on his back, as is usually the case on his face.

“Having this removed will give him the best quality of life. He'll be able to tell a good story about it and say it's a shark, or something," Kaitly pointed out.  "We'll definitely get through this day."
