He definitely proved all those doctors wrong.
It defied all odds.
Twelve-year-old Kennedy, Jordan Bromley, suffers from primordial dwarfism, a pathology that causes those affected to be very small but proportionate and affects around a hundred people around the world.
She has just started seventh grade, which is almost two feet shorter than her classmates, but despite proving doctors wrong by living so long, her mother is still worried about her future.
Most parents don't have to imagine that their children won't live past their prime, but for us, it's a reality.
But I'll probably lose it.
When Kennedy was born, he weighed just three pounds and measured 11 inches from head to toe.
When she was born she was truly perfect.
It was simply miniature.
You were chubby.
She had pink skin, her eyes were bright brown, she immediately baptized many, as doctors told her she was too small to survive and part of her brain was missing.
So we thought we'd take her home to die, because that's what they told us, and we were home.
We were able to live life every day.
And, you know, we finally realized that she wasn't going to die and that we were going to live every day with our baby.
Kennedy proved the doctors wrong and is now 12 years old.
He's kind-hearted, he's loving.
You know he wants to share everything with everyone.
She is feisty, determined, independent.
He didn't take anything from anyone.
Kennedy weighs twenty-three and a half pounds, wears a baby size six tu- and is only thirty-nine and a half inches tall, making her shorter than her younger brother Tyron.
She is also a sister.
Sometimes it's a little difficult to do anything with her because she doesn't understand time.
She's no different from everyone else, I know she is.
But to me now.
Sometimes, if we're out in the park, if someone says something mean about her, I'll come over and just say: like when, if you were like this, it would be if people did this to you.
Today.
Kennedy has started seventh grade and although she is the same age as her classmates, she is not as academically developed and therefore learns different subjects and skills such as cooking.
Kennedy makes me laugh.
She is very empathetic.
If you hurt your finger or she comes to hug you, she has a contagious laugh.
She makes you want to laugh with her.
I mean, you know kids will be kids and they'll look at her just because she's small.
You know, you don't.
Often, you know, I get a chance to see someone – it's such a small thing, going to schools.
I hope that she has a wonderful, full life and that she feels like she's comfortable with everyone, and that's what we try so hard to do, just to make her feel like she's a part of things and that she's no different than anyone else.
You know, despite his size, when he's not in school, Kennedy likes to skate and bowl, and will soon start swimming...
It makes me proud to cry.
I cry every time he's on my skin, everything he does.
